Conference on Classical Education

September 25, 2023

On Saturday, September 30, Peace Lutheran Church & Academy will host a mini-conference on classical education.  “Lutherans and the Liberal Arts” will begin with Matins at 9:00 and will feature speakers Dr. Gene Edward Veith and Mr. Nathaniel Pullmann.  If you’d like to attend, please contact Pastor Christiansen at 262-246-3200.  We plan to conclude at 3:30.

If you have your children in a classical school, this conference for you!  If you love learning about how to learn, this is for you! We will discuss why the liberal arts are called “liberal,” whether classical education is a good fit for all Lutherans, and how classical learning can protect and help our families throughout our culture-war issues.

Resumption of study and activities

August 22, 2023

The congregation is invited to attend daily prayers at 8:30am on days school is in session (beginning August 23).

Coffee Break Bible Study picks up on August 24 for the new year.  Class begins at 9:30, but you may wish to come at 8:30 for Matins and the Lord’s Supper.  We will be studying the Gospel of St Mark this year.

Senior choir will begin practicing the Wednesday after Labor Day.

Didache will meet again on Wednesday evenings, in the context of the Divine Service, beginning Sept 13.  This year we will be looking at the teachings of the catechism by focusing on Mark’s gospel.

Friday night fish fry is expected to resume in October, at a date yet to be determined.

The opening for the new year at Peace Lutheran Academy will be incorporated into the Divine Service on Sunday, August 20.  Teachers will be installed at the 7:45 service.  Please pray for the Lord’s blessings on our students, teachers, parents, and staff.

CCA Symposium

May 27, 2023

Peace Lutheran Church will be hosting the annual CCA Symposium.  This year’s theme is Christ and the Law: Catechesis on the Ten Commandments, and many of the favorite speakers over the past decades are returning.  Dates are W-F, June 21-23.  The schedule, the speaker-list, and more information is available on the website.  Registration forms are available online for non-members.  Members of Peace are invited to pick up a registration form in the narthex.

Concordia Catechetical Academy is dedicated to the promotion of faithful Lutheran catechesis and the use of Luther’s Small Catechism.

As this summer is likely to be the last nation-wide CCA symposium, we encourage you to enjoy the opportunity for worship, study, and discussion.
